Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu

Founded in the early 20th century in Brazil, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is widely considered one of the most effective martial arts today. Utilising grappling and ground fighting, it prioritises leverage and technique over brute strength, allowing practitioners of different ages and physical builds to compete effectively against one another. Participants seek to control and submit opponents using joint locks and chokeholds, making it both a physically demanding and highly strategic sport.

Here at Extreme, we offer BJJ classes for all skill levels, from complete beginners to experienced athletes. Classes cater to a wide age range, from kids aged 3 and up through to teens and adults. These are available in both Gi and No-Gi styles. Gi Jiu-Jitsu is practised in the traditional kimono Gi uniform which is used to obtain grips and leverage against one’s opponent. In contrast, No-Gi Jiu-Jitsu is practised without the traditional uniform, focusing more on speed, agility, and body control due to the absence of Gi grips.
