A Day in the Extreme Office

Working behind the desk, one of the most frequently asked questions we get is … “so what do you guys actually do during the day?” If you’ve ever wondered what a typical shift looks like for our admin team, here’s a rough schedule of what happens from when our academies open until they close.

11:00 – 12:00am
The daily grind begins. After running through an “Opening Checklist”, we do a quick walk around the gym to make sure lights are on, internet’s running smoothly, and everything else looks good to bring on a busy afternoon of classes. To get ourselves organised, we pop open the diary to see what calls, meetings and tasks we have ahead and make a start on these. At about 11:45, coaches and students start rocking up for midday sessions, and we too, get dressed and ready to train.

12:00 – 1:00pm
Time to squish a work out in! The office isn’t as busy during the day as it is in the afternoon, so we like to utilise these lunch time classes to get on the mats. We have the option to mix it up between Thai Boxing, Boxing or BJJ.

1:00 – 1:30pm
After a solid session, first thing’s first – off to the showers to smell nice and look pretty. As people say…if you didn’t break a sweat during training, you’re doing it wrong!

1:30 – 1:45pm
There’s nothing quite like a cheeky post-workout feed. We’ll commonly nibble on fruits, nuts, yoghurt or bars. If there are treats lying around, we sneakily have a little peck at those too. It’s all about balance, yeah?!

1:45 – 3:30pm
A bulk of our daily chores happen here. From paperwork, cleaning, stock management, visual merchandising, liaising with suppliers, reporting, rosters, e-mails and organising upcoming events, there’s always heaps to do! Individual meetings are often held in these hours. A quick sweep and vacuum of the place is always good, as we then prepare for the second half of our day.

3:30 – 4:00pm
By this point, we have one thing on our minds and that’s FOOODD! Most of us pack lunch that usually consists of meat, veggies or rice. On days we get lazy, we either head to the local groceries, shopping centres or cafes to grab a bite. In this case, sushi, smoothies, health wraps and chicken are the usual suspects.

4:00 – 9:00pm
With Kids classes beginning at 4:45 and Adults classes running up until 9:00pm, everything that happens from here on in is go-go-go. The night goes quickly as we round up the class attendance cards, process any drink/merchandise purchases and welcome new people to try out classes. A light dinner is normally squished in midway. (More often than not, it will be the same stuff that we had for lunch.) We enjoy a good chit-chat with you guys more than anything too, so always feel free to drop a convo on your way in!

9:00 – 9:30pm
The night comes to a close. We go by a “Closing Checklist” to make sure all procedures are completed accordingly. Finally, a full scan of the facility is done to make sure that no rubbish is lying around and no members are left to be locked in the change rooms.

9:30pm
Home time. Lights off and alarms on as we head off to eat, snooze, chill out and get ready to do it all again the next day  🙂
