MMA

Mixed Martial Arts is a sport that has been around since the early 20th Century where numerous contests took place in Japan. MMA is now a widely recognised and practiced sport around the globe, with people undertaking it professionally, as a hobby and simply for fitness. Here are some great exercises for beginners:

Crab Walk

This is a move that may look funny to others watching, but it is great for building up muscle in the hamstrings and glutes. Sit on the floor with your knees bent and place the palms of your hands flat on the floor next to you. Lift your butt off the ground and then walk forwards and backwards while holding it up. It is a great skill to learn when practising your MMA.

Burpees

Many people cringe when they hear this name, but they will work out your body from top to bottom. Start standing, then squat down and place your hands on the ground in front of you, kick your feet back into a push-up position, jump back up into the air and repeat. This is great way to build up your fitness which is crucial to MMA.

Walking Lunges

Take those lunges a step further by walking them around the room. Make sure your feet are hip-width apart, step forward with one leg, lower your body down, then raise back up again and step forward with the next foot. Building leg muscle is important in MMA.
